E Pluribus Unum

We are a study association connected to the American Studies department at the RUG in Groningen. We are a small association due to the small study with which we are connected. This means that you get to know almost all the members that are active pretty quickly and befriend many of them as well.

Geschiedenis

EPU was founded in September 1989. Through the years its principles have remained the same. Nevertheless, tradition has never stood in the way of innovation in the association. Regular aspects such as lectures, drinks, the introduction camp, and EPU’s very own magazine (the American Studies Herald or ASH) have been supplemented with conferences, study trips abroad, and online ASH articles. With this vast array of activities, EPU has managed to create a cohesive body of enthusiastic American Studies students.

Activiteiten

We organize several exciting activities throughout the academic year, big and small. Small drinks, lectures, parties, a study trip, a hitchhiking trip, and a music night, to name a few. We try to find the right balance between relaxing and academically stimulating activities. We also work together with other association from the faculty of Arts, the music night, the hitchhiking trip, and several parties. These activities allow you to meet new people from other associations as well.

Missie & Visie

We stand for diversity and friendship. Our motto is “out of many, one’, which mean that we accept everybody and try to achieve a cohesive group of enthusiastic friends. We also do not believe in hazing or hierarchies in the association, and we want people from every study year to befriend one another.
