Study Association Off-Screen
Study Association Off-Screen is the association for all Media students of the Uva, including the Dutch and English track of Media and Culture and Media and Information.
With being the biggest study association of the Faculty of Humanities, Off-Screen tries to make more of studying media at the UvA than just following lectures and seminars by organising events where Dutch and international members can get to know each other. Off-Screen’s official language is English, creating a welcoming atmosphere where you can meet fellow students from all over the world, chat with them, learn about their culture and make new friends!

Geschiedenis
Established in 1997, we started out very small and have since then grown to be one of the biggest and most active study associations in Amsterdam. With our amount of members fluctuating around the 700, we are the biggest study association from the Faculty of Humanities of the UvA!
Activiteiten
Off-Screen organises multiple academically/media-oriented events such as study sessions before exams, movie nights, photography or editing workshops, thesis talks and many more! Besides, Off-Screen creates its very own Film Festival, where students can hand in their own movie production to a professional jury. Next to our own Film Festival, we visited the Berlinale the past few years!
Off-Screen also coordinates trips to different cities every year, in the past for example including a Skiing Trip to Italy and a week-long Study Trip to Tbilisi, Georgia.
Missie & Visie
Each year, Off-Screen is led by a Board of six students, together with their committees organising events, always open open for your feedback and ideas! Everyone is welcome to become an Off-Screen member and maybe even join one of its many committees to actively create the year’s events and content, providing great hands-on experience next to their studies, ranging from editing promotional material to organising the Berlinale trip!
Via Off-Screen, you can make friends for life, all the while partying with us as much as benefitting and learning from our media-related events!
